With the lower torso pieces unmodified, you
would have pretty much NO ability to bend at the waist. To remedy
this we will separate BOTH the "cod" & "butt"
plates into two pieces.
For the cod piece, I used electric tape to mark the spot I would score
the ABS. There's already a line separating the "detail"
from the rest so I just scored this 3 times or so. With a little bit
of work, the piece snapped fairly cleanly.
MAKE SURE THAT THE BELT WILL COVER THE SPOT YOU CUT! |
 |
After scoring/cutting the piece, sand down
any sharp/rough spots. Here's the end result. Not totally
smooth, but remember that it's covered by the belt. |
 |
Rinse & repeat for the butt piece. |
 |
I drilled small hole on each half of the
separated pieces & reconnected them with zip ties.
Notice also the use of the provided elastic modded with IS
Velcro. This will be used to attach this to the front, lower-ab via
the sides & the cod/butt plates.

plate. |

In this picture you will notice two short
strips of Velcro loop & the top of the armor. The black
suspenders I purchased at Sears were a little loose, but this extra bit of
padding really did the trick. |
 |
For now I pretty much followed the included directions
for the belt. I temporarily bolted the pieces to the cod piece(still
waiting for Sandtrooper piece) & measured it around me. I then
cut it so that each piece overlaps just about the width of the thermal
detonator. To keep them together I simply measured out two blocks of
white, IS Velcro.
Notice also the two IS Velcro strips on the back to attach the
detonator itself. I'd like to move to a more permanent method in the
future. i.e. bolts

A nice shot of the front, lower ab
piece. I drilled out & attached the buttons per the directions,
but attached the drop-plates(those two blocks below the belt) with elastic
& IS Velcro. |

Notice again the Velcro on the sides & on the top for the suspenders. |
