UPDATE: 04/30/2005 Ab-plate C-section!

The picture above shows two types of ab plates that are out there. The
one on the left is from standard FX armor, while the one of the right is from
"Movie FX." The main thing to notice is the box sitting next to
the "Movie FX" piece. On FX amrmor those holes are simply
drilled out & black buttons are placed inside, but Sandtroopers don't have
these. The "Movie FX" armor supposedly functions like the
authentic Stormtrooper armor in that this button box is removable.
I have ordered the "Movie FX" Ab plate & will use it in my
armor by leaving off the box.
 |
My Sandtrooper armor "kit" arrived
a while back, but I just got enough time to take some pictures. Here
you can see the new ab-plate, knee-plate, & hand-plates. |
 |
Just like I did on the FX
ab-plate, I will follow the natural separation point. CAREFULLY
score the plastic with a sharp blade. After 4-6 good scores, it
should snap off fairly cleanly & easily. |
 |
You might have to sand it down a little, but
remember that this will be covered by the belt. |
 |
Here is a look at the back of the ab-plate
when it's complete.
Yellow:
Suspender straps to hold lower torso pieces up.
Red:
"IS" Velcro tabs. Used with elastic to hold
the front & back pieces tight.
Green:
"IS" Velcro + elastic to hold C-Sectioned ab-plate together.
Purple:
"IS" Velcro used to join the cod & butt
pieces.
